Police search for missing Skye man

A man who has been reported missing from Skye may be on the West Highland Way.

Stephen Russell was reported missing after leaving his home in the Blaven Road of Portree on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old has been described as an “experienced hillwalker” by police, who added there had been “concerns for his welfare”.

He is 5ft 10in tall, of slim build with a shaved head and a black beard.

He usually wears a beanie hat, a blue waterproof jacket and carries walking gear.

He also may be wearing sunglasses.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “It is believed Stephen may be walking the West Highland Way.

“Anyone with information on Stephen’s whereabouts is urged to make contact with police on 101.”
