France Lautier, 62, of France, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving. The Crown Office said that Lautier made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination. She was released on bail and will appear at court at a later date. The accident took place on the A9 Inverness-Thurso road at Dunbeath on Saturday, and involved several vehicles. Thurso resident Elizabeth Williams, a passenger in a pale blue Jaguar S-Type, was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. The driver of the car was also injured. The crash also involved a grey Volkswagen Golf and a red VW Golf. The grey Golf collided with the passenger side of the Jaguar, with the front and side of both vehicles left badly damaged.
