A Highland man whose disappearance sparked a massive search on the west coast has been found safe and well.
Michael Fairchild was reported missing on Tuesday after failing to return from a walk in the Lochinver area.
Police, coastguard, RAF and lifeboat personnel launched a major search throughout yesterday.
However a police spokesman said: “Police advise that Michael Fairchild, who was reported missing from the Lochinver area, has been traced safe and well in the local area.
“Police wish to thank all search and rescue personnel in addition to members of the public and the media for their assistance with this matter.”
