A labrador dog had to be dramatically saved from the middle of a Highland loch after she inadvertently went for a paddle in a canoe.
Stunned Highland residents could only watch on as Rosie the labrador, travelling in a canoe, drifted out into the middle of Loch Broom near Ullapool.
The family pet had been playing with her owner’s teenage sons when she decided to get in a kayak on the waters edge, however, to the shock of both the sons and the dog, the kayak was rapidly carried out into the middle of the loch, which eventually leads out to the Atlantic.
One witness, a kayaking instructor, took to social media to report that Rosie “had just stolen his neighbour’s kayak”.
A rescue rowing boat eventually reached Rosie and towed her and her new kayak safely to shore.
