A woman motorcyclist in her 50s was said to be “exceptionally lucky” to escape death or serious injury after coming off her machine on a twisting Highland road this afternoon.
The accident happened at about 2.40pm on the B8043 road at Ardgowar near Fort William, about eight miles south of the junction with the A830 Mallaig to Fort William road.
An ambulance arrived at the scene just after 3pm and remains in attendance.
An ambulance spokesman said: “The woman has complained of injuries to her lower limbs and lower back but her injuries are not life threatening. She has been exceptionally lucky. Her helmet has absorbed a lot of the impact and has done its job.”
