A stand-up comedian famed for his appearances on TV programmes such as Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and The Graham Norton Show will be the start turn at a leading business awards event in Inverness.
Ed Byrne will take some time out of a hectic national tour schedule to entertain hundreds of regional business leaders at the annual SCDI Highlands and Islands Dinner and Business Excellence Awards in September.
The Irish comic, who is also an outdoors enthusiast and mountain climber, will join deputy first minister John Swinney who is also speaking at the glittering awards, while BBC Broadcaster Cathy MacDonald will act as the host for the evening.
Fraser Grieve, SCDI’s Highlands and islands director, said the event was already sold out but there was still time to submit entries to the awards.
Mr Grieve said: “It’s great to be able to confirm such a well know comedian as Ed Byrne as the after dinner entertainment for this year’s awards. Ed, combined with BBC Broadcaster Cathy MacDonald as the evenings host, should ensure that the night serves as both a celebration of business achievement, whilst also ensuring that the many guests have an fun night out.
“With only two weeks left to go for award entries to be received, this is the last chance for businesses to come forward for recognition at this year’s celebration, and to join the hundreds of others attending this sold out event.”
