The body of a man has been found in the search for a missing hill walker on Cruachan by Loch Awe in Argyll.
Police and mountain rescue teams were involved in the search for David Alan Jones, 69, known as Alan.
Mr Jones left his home in Loch Awe village at 5.30pm yesterday to walk up to Cruachan Dam.
He had done the walk a number of times, however his family contacted police when he failed to return home.
An extensive search which included Oban Mountain Rescue Team and the police helicopter was launched.
A police spokesman said: “Around 1.30pm today, Thursday July 23, officers discovered a man’s body on Cruachan. While a formal identification has still to take place it’s believed to be Mr Jones, who was reported missing from his home in Loch Awe yesterday.
“His relatives have been informed and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
“Members of the public and media are thanked for their assistance.”
