Image: DC Thomson. A Highland chalet has suffered extensive damage after a fire tore through the property. Fire crews were called to the property close to the Mains of Garten Farm at around 3.20pm today. Fire appliances from Aviemore, Grantown-on-Spey and Inverness were tasked to the scene. Firefighters battle chalet fire for more than four hours At the height of the blaze, four appliances were in attendance. Firefighters battled for more than four hours to extinguish the flames by using two breathing apparatuses, one main jet and one hose reel jet. The stop message was received at 8.23pm, with crews leaving the scene a short time later. Pictures taken in the area show smoke coming from a chalet to the rear of Mains of Garten Farm. A fire spokeswoman confirmed engineers from SSE had been contacted to isolate the amenities. A spokeswoman from Police Scotland confirmed they were made aware of the incident but did not attend.
