Firefighters were called to a block of flats at Linnhe Road just before 2.30am this morning. A spokesman for the service said a fuse box was destroyed in the fire, with smoke damage to the hall, kitchen, living room and bedroom of the flat. Two crews from Fort William attended the incident and used a main jet, hosereel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. The firefighters also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots after the fire had been extinguished. The fire service spokesman said: “A male casualty was removed from the flat, suffering from smoke inhalation. “He was passed into the care of the ambulance service.” The fire service left the scene at 4.10am.
