Three people escaped unhurt after an engine began releasing smoke on their boat near Shetland on Saturday.
The Sumburgh-based coastguard helicopter and the Aith lifeboat were sent out around 12.30pm after receiving a call from a vessel off West Burra.
By the time the Rescue 900 aircraft located the boat the overheated engine had been disconnected and the smoke had died down.
The vessel was towed into Hamnavoe by another boat which had been nearby.
The crew were unhurt and did not require medical attention.
The Lerwick and West Burra Isle coastguard rescue teams also took part in the operation.
Elsewhere, Oban Lifeboat was called out just before noon on Saturday after being asked by Stornoway coastguard to assist a rigid inflatable boat (Rib) with five people on board that had broken down at the southern approaches to the Sound of Kerrera.
The stricken vessel had been taken under tow by a local creel boat when the rescue crew arrived on scene at 12.07pm.
The lifeboat then took over and took the Rib back to its launch site in the Sound of Kerrera.
