A major search has been launched for a French hillwalker who is missing in the Cuillin range on Skye.
Thierry Coffie was reported missing after failing to return from a lone walk on the Sgurr A Mhadaich and Sgurr A Greadidh peak in the formidable mountain range.
Land and air searches have been ongoing since 9pm yesterday and they have resumed this morning.
Mountain rescue teams from Skye and RAF Kinloss are searching the An Dorus area of the mountain, with support from the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.
The coastguard helicopter Rescue 951 has also been used to search the area.
A detailed description of Mr Coffie is currently unavailable.
A police spokesman said: “Anyone walking in this area is asked to be aware of this information and if anyone has had contact with the missing walker they are asked to contact Police Scotland via 101.”
Sgurr a Ghreadaidh is the highest peak in the northern section of the Cuillin and is often climbed with its neighbour Sgurr a Mhadaidh.
An Dorus, where the search is currently focused lies between the two Munro summits.
