Witnesses are being sought to the overnight blaze in the communal stairwell of a tenement block in Kinlochleven. No-one was injured. The six flats on Foyers Road were evacuated as a precaution. The fire – burning rubbish – was reported shortly after 4.30am yesterday. Fire crew wearing breathing apparatus had extinguished the flames by 5.30am. There was considerable smoke damage to the stairwell. A spokeswoman for the police confirmed that no-one had been injured but that the fire was being treated as “suspicious.” Anyone with information should call the force on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
