The leader of Highland Council yesterday described problems securing funding from an EU source as a “sad story”.
Last month the Press and Journal revealed how £46million destined for Scottish social projects had been suspended of “issues” with the Scottish Government’s systems for handling the funding.
Around £5million from the European Social Fund had been earmarked for projects in the Highlands, islands and Moray.
The Scottish Government has said it was working to comply with EU regulations.
Yesterday Highland councillors were updated on the authority’s position in relation to the funds.
Planning and development director Stuart Black told elected members that there would not be impact on the delivery of any projects.
Mrs Davidson said that the situation was “one set of civil servants blaming another set if civil servants”.
She added: “All in all it’s made quite a sad story out of what should be a good story.”
Labour group leader Councillor Jimmy Gray said that European funding “had always been a mystery” to him.
