The amazing world of moths comes under close examination at the National Trust for Scotland’s Glencoe Visitor Centre next weekend.
The special event is to mark National Moth Night on Saturday September 12.
The Glencoe rangers will offer visitors the opportunity to meet some of the many moths that thrive in this most famous of Scottish glens.
The expert naturalists will be using a set of harmless light traps. Visitors are invited to join the rangers in the evening as they arrange the traps to attract the moths, or the following morning, when they return to inspect the nocturnal visitors.
Ranger, Rachel McKerral said: “Glencoe has a rich population of winged invertebrates and some very interesting examples have been spotted at previous moth nights, so who knows what we’ll discover this time round.”
The event runs on Saturday September 12 from 7.30-8.30pm and on Sunday September 13 from 9-11am. The event costs £2 for adults and £1 for children.
