Motorists will face three weeks of disruption as resurfacing works get underway on part of the A9 Inverness-Perth trunk road next week.
Transport Scotland is investing £335,000 to improve a 0.7mile section of carriageway north of the Dalnaspidal junction at the Drumochter Pass.
Work will start next Monday and this latest resurfacing project will bring the total investment on this part of the A9 to £1.3million since March last year.
The improvements will be carried out between 7am and 7pm each day from Monday to Friday with no works programmed for the weekends.
During the works, temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place for the safety of the workforce and members of the public.
There will also be a lane closure implemented on the dual carriageway section prior to the works area in order to safely manage the flow of traffic through the site.
A 30mph speed limit will be in place outwith the working hours to ensure vehicles can pass safely over the temporary surface.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit representative, said: “These essential resurfacing works will improve the condition of this section of the A9 and will address all cracks and defects in the surface.
“We would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and to allow extra time for travel.”
