Searches are ongoing for a hillwalker missing in Glencoe who has not been seen since Friday morning.
Police say “concern is now growing” for Robin Garton, with a major search operation ongoing in the Glencoe area today.
The 69-year-old from the Wiltshire area was last seen checking out of his accomodation in the Glencoe area at 8am on last Friday.
He had been due to travel north to meet friends in the Kinlochewe area on Sunday but failed to arrive.
He was reported missing om Monday.
Police have since found Mr Garton’s car, a black Volkswagen Passat estate, at the Achnambeithach car park off the A82 by Loch Achtriochtan.
It is believed that Mr Garton may have made plans to walk on the Coire Nam Beith or Bidean Nam Bian area.
The search was launched yesterday, but was stood down without finding Mr Garton.
Police are co-ordinating further searches today in the Bidean nam Bian, Stob Coire nam Beith, Stob Coire nan Lochan and Aonach Eagach ridge areas of Glencoe.
Involved in the search are mountain rescue teams from Glencoe, Lochaber, Oban and the RAF, handlers from the Search and Rescue Dogs Association and the Inverness-based coastguard helicopter Rescue 951.
Mr Garton is described as 6ft 2in in height and of slim to medium build.
He has fair hair which is slightly balding and occasionally wears glasses.
It is not known what he was wearing.
A police spokesman said: “With the last sighting of Mr Garton being Friday morning, concern is now growing for his welfare.
“Anyone who has seen Mr Garton or his vehicle is urged to contact police on 101.”
