Car and van collide on Caithness road

A main Caithness road was briefly closed after a car and a van collided in a village.

The accident happened on the A99 Wick to Latheron road, near the closed Portland Hotel in Lybster just after 4.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said that nobody had been injured in the accident.

But the road was blocked following the accident, which left both vehicles too badly damaged to be driven.

Both vehicles were later recovered and the road full reopened.
