Police divers yesterday joined the search for a man who has been missing in Glencoe for more than 10 days.
Robin Garton, 69, was last seen on the morning of Friday, September 25, setting off for a walk in the area.
A major search has been underway since but so far no sign has been found of the hillwalker, who is from the Devizes in Wiltshire.
Yesterday, a specialist police dive team from Glasgow joined the search for the first time.
They spent the day searching the River Coe in the Clachaig area, downstream from where Mr Garton was believed to have been walking.
Police dog handlers also continued their efforts but once again the search was stood down without success last night.
The dive team is the latest resource to join the search for the hillwalker, with various mountain rescue teams, dog handlers, helicopters and specialist police officers having been used already.
Mr Garton was last seen checking out of the King’s House Hotel in Glencoe at around 8am.
His black Volkswagen Passat estate was found a few miles further north at Achnambeithach, near the A82 Fort William to Glasgow road.
Searches in recent days have focused on the Aonach Eagach ridge and the “Three Sisters” area of Bidean nam Bian. Teams have also searched the wider Glencoe area.
The divers searched the river downstream of this area.
Mr Garton’s family have said they are “increasingly desperate” for news of him, urging anyone who has walked in the area to “rack their brains” for information which might help the search operation
Mr Garton is an experienced hillwalker and is described as 6ft 2in and of slim to medium build with fair hair which is slightly balding.
He occasionally wears glasses but it is not known what he was wearing when he set out last week.
Anyone with information which could help the search should contact police on 101.
