Searches will continue this weekend for a hillwalker who went missing in Glencoe a month ago.
Robin Garton was last seen on the morning of Friday, September 25, setting off for a walk in the area. A major search operation has been ongoing but there has so far been no trace of the 69-year-old.
The family of Mr Garton, who is from Devizes in Wiltshire, have reiterated its public appeal for information.
Its statement said: “We are extremely grateful to members of the emergency services and search and rescue personnel who have been helping in the search for Robin.
“We are increasingly desperate to find him. Somebody will have seen have seen him on the morning of September 25 and we would appeal to anyone in the area that day to rack their brains.
“Alternatively, do you know of others that were walking that day who might have seen him?
“We’d like to appeal to anyone who saw Robin or may have spoken to him to please get in touch with the police on 101.
“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may assist in bringing Robin home to his wife and children.”
Search efforts will focus on the Glencoe area at the weekend, and will involve officers and local mountain rescue teams.
Fort William-based Inspector Andy Bilton said: “The Lochaber area experiences an increase in visitors in the holiday period so we are appealing once again to visitors and local residents to be mindful of the ongoing search activity and to report any information to us. All information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, will be considered as we continue to search for Mr Garton. We are very grateful for all assistance to date from partner agencies and members of the public.”
Mr Garton checked out of the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe at around 8am on the morning of Friday, September 25.
Officers traced Mr Garton’s black Volkswagen Passat estate car in the Achnambeithach car park, off the A82 Inverness to Glasgow trunk road by Loch Achtriochtan.
It is believed Mr Garton may have had made plans to walk in the Coire Nam Beith or Bidean Nam Bian areas.
