Two members of staff at Stornoway Airport have been suspended following an internal investigation involving a theft.
A spokesman for operator Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) said: “Two members of staff at Stornoway Airport have been suspended following an internal investigation which was carried out after serious allegations were brought to our attention.
“The matter has now been referred to the authorities for further investigation. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.
“This decision will have no impact on services at the airport. Stornoway Airport will continue to operate as normal.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is carrying out inquiries after receiving a report from HIAL in relation to a theft at Stornoway Airport.
“The report was made on October 29.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
