Couple rescued after sailing boat runs into trouble off Skye

A couple had to be towed to safety after their sailing boat ran into trouble off the coast of Skye at the weekend.
The 14ft vessel lost power and was drifting at Flodigarry, just north of Staffin Bay, when Stornoway Coastguard received the call around 12.30pm on Saturday.
The Portree lifeboat was called out along with a coastguard rescue team from the town and another from Duntulm.
It is understood the couple were stranded at sea for around two hours.
The lifeboat eventually towed them to safety at Staffin Bay.
A Stornoway Coastguard spokesman said: “We took Portree lifeboat to assist a 14ft boat which had lost power and was drifting north of Staffin Bay, just off of Flodigarry. It was a fairly routine catch.
“We tasked a couple of rescue teams to keep an eye on it from shore land to make sure it wasn’t going to drift out into any risk.
“They were taken back to Staffin Bay.”
