Lochaber Mountain Rescue were called to help the man after he tried the scale Scotland’s highest mountain via Observatory Gulley. On the rescue team’s Facebook page they described the scale of difficulty of the route taken as ‘certain death’. Storm Abigail has been battering Scotland for the past 15 hours with roads and schools closed, power cuts and flooding reported. The man was rescued from the slopes of Ben Nevis The man was rescued from the slopes of Ben Nevis Rescue teams wrote on their Facebook page: “On the scale of difficulty this route is certain death. “The casualty was found high on a snow slope with chest injuries and lowered down to the ‪‎CIC‬ hut. “He was properly checked over and then taken down the rest of the way by the ‪polaris‬ bikes. “A very difficult rescue in atrocious weather with a very good outcome.”
