A 70-year-old woman with dementia who was missing for almost two days has been found alive.
Margaret MacKenzie, known to her friends as Maggie, was last seen at 7pm on Monday in her Strathpeffer home.
Fears grew as mountain rescuers, dog teams and even a helicopter searched for the vulnerable pensioner, with overnight temperatures dropping close to freezing.
But the missing woman was found by a member of the public in a field on the outskirts of the Ross-shire village this afternoon.
She has since been reunited with her family and is now receiving treatment at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for exposure to the elements.
