A section of Oban’s High Street has been closed off after the render on the side of a building became loose following heavy rain and gales.
Inspector Mark Stephen of Oban Police Station said: “The render came loose on the gable end of one of the buildings. We had to close the road and get Argyll and Bute Council out to make it safe.”
The council’s building control department acted quickly to secure the area around the three storey building and protect the public.
A council spokesman said: “Our building control people used powers under section 29 of the Buildings Scotland Act 2003 and did what was needed to make the building safe.
“Contractors are on site now. They will need to erect scaffolding to remove the render. It is expected that this will be complete by Saturday.”
A diversion is in place via Albany Street and Drimvargie road.
