The Culachy Windfarm proposal has been rejected in a 5-2 vote by Highland Council’s south planning committee.
Council leader Margaret Davidson, who represents the local ward, won the vote based on her argument that approving RES’s plans for 13 huge turbines near the Corrieyairack Pass would have breached planning policy through cumulative visual impact and spoiled the experience of wild land for tourists and locals who enjoy the tranquility of the area.
Only committee chairman Jimmy Gray and fellow Inverness councillor Thomas Prag voted for approval.
