Rail services between the Highlands and the central belt face disruption for at least another week after the devastation which was wrought by Storm Frank.
Part of the track-bed of the Highland mainline, near Dunkeld in Perthshire, was washed away during Wednesday’s devastation.
As a consequence, train services linking Inverness with Glasgow and Edinburgh have been cancelled, with a replacement bus service running between the Highland capital and Perth.
A spokesman for ScotRail said: “A full assessment of the damage has been completed and the latest estimate for repairs to be complete and a normal service to be restored is now Monday, January 11.”
The company have advising passengers that replacements buses are running between Perth and Inverness, although this will take longer than regular journeys.
The train operator has also suggested travelling by rail via Aberdeen, which will take about two hours longer than direct trips between Inverness and Perth.
ScotRail has apologised for the disruption.
