Firefighters have dealt with a “leaking” gas cylinder within a car at a north caravan park.
Emergency services created an exclusion zone around the propane cylinder at Thurso Bay Caravan and Camping Park after being called at about 3.10pm,
The A9 Inverness to Scrabster road was also closed at Smith Terrace where it passes near the caravan site during the incident.
Two fire crews from Thurso were called to the incident, which contained a 15kg cylinder containing propane gas.
A spokeswoman for the service confirmed that the cylinder was within a car when it was found to have been leaking.
She said: “It was ventilated and then crews helped to make the scene safe.”
A police spokesman confirmed that officers had closed the road and enforced the 500m (1,640ft) exclusion zone while firefighters dealt with the cylinder.
