A major search operation has resumed this morning for a kayaker who missing off the west coast. The man was last seen at about 4.30pm yesterday setting off from Traigh Beach near Arisaig, south of Mallaig in sub-zero temperatures. A land, air and sea search operation was launched last night when he did not return. However, it was stood down late last night after not finding any trace of the man. The search has resumed again involving Mallaig lifeboat, police dog teams and coastguard teams from Mallaig, Fort William and Salen. The coastguard helicopter from Stornoway has replaced its Inverness equivalent which was involved in the search last night. A police spokesman said the missing man is in his 30s.
