Police confirmed that the A82 Inverness to Glasgow road has been closed south of Fort William near the Corran Ferry terminal. A spokesman for the force said that the material is a barley-based substance which becomes very slippery when in contact with water. Traffic Scotland has reported that the closure is due to a spilled load of five tonnes of barley over about 1.5 miles. A spokeswoman for the fire service said that crews from Fort William are heading to the scene to help clear up. Teams from Bear Scotland are also helping clear the road.
