A Highland care home and day centre is to get a £1million makeover.
Work on refurbishing the Wade Centre in Kingussie, which is managed by NHS Highland, will begin on February 1.
The electrics and heating will be upgraded, improvements made to residents’ en-suite bathrooms and fire safety work will include the installation of a sprinkler system.
An additional bedroom will also be installed to enhance services provided to help some people avoid hospital admission and to enable speedier discharge from hospital.
The work will be carried out in phases, allowing the centre to continue operating albeit at a reduced capacity during the refurbishment.
NHS Highland has made arrangements for the day care service to transfer to the nearby St Vincent’s Hospital until the work is completed.
The contract has been awarded by Highland Council to McGregor Construction. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
