Mountain rescue volunteers are on call 365 days a year
Police have named a Derbyshire man who died in an avalanche on a Highland mountain.
Adrian David Bankart, who is known as Dave, was killed on Creag Meagaidh on Wednesday afternoon.
The 54-year-old was rescued with another man after being caught up in the avalanche while climbing.
Sadly Mr Bankart died, while the other climber remains in a serious but stable condition in Belford Hospital.
A police spokesman said: “The family of Mr Bankart would seek this opportunity to extend their gratitude to all emergency services and mountain rescue personnel who were involved in the incident. “
