A weather warning has been issued for snow and ice in the north and north-east.
The Met Office has issued a yellow “be aware” warning for the wintry conditions due to hit parts of the Highlands, Moray, Aberdeenshire and the northern isles.
The forecasting agency warn that wintry blasts are expected from this morning until 3pm tomorrow afternoon.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “A cold, unstable westerly flow originating from Greenland will affect northern Scotland for much of the weekend.
“This will bring frequent sleet, snow and hail showers.
“Snow accumulations of 1.5 inches to three inches cm are likely away from western coastal districts with four inches to eight inches likely over high ground, above around 1,300ft.
“With strong to gale force winds, blizzard conditions and drifting are likely over high ground.”
