A remote west Highland forest could be transformed into a set for a reality TV survival show.
Councillors will decide tomorrow whether to grant permission for the site in Ardnamurchan to be used for the programme.
Production company KEO Films is seeking consent from the south planning committee to turn the forest, southwest of Dal-Ghorm at Ardtoe, Acharacle, into a temporary film set.
The application has been referred to the committee because there have been a number of representations.
Nine people have written to register their objections while three others have offered their support.
KEO Films has been commissioned by Channel 4 to make a documentary series about a carefully cast group of 24 skilled people attempting to live in the wilds for 12 months.
Those taking part in the documentary will build temporary homes in the forest.
One objector, Margaret Green of Dal-Ghorm House which neighbours the forest, said: “I am concerned about what will happen to the wildlife and that there will be pollution.
“It is not a wilderness but it is really not suitable for people to live there, because it is forestry.”
Council officers have recommended that planning consent be granted, subject to certain conditions.
Their report before councillors states: “The contributors will have no access to power and with only basic hand tools and supplies.
“It is anticipated the number and size of structures to be built will be limited.”
It adds: “If the change of use application is granted, structures could be built under permitted development rights (providing they are temporary structures to be removed at the end of the temporary filming period).
“The land involved in the change of use is large and detached from the main settlements; largely screened by trees; is only to be used for a temporary period; and any structures on the land will be removed at the end of the project and the land reinstated.”
The report concludes: “All relevant matters have been taken into account when appraising this application.
It is considered that the proposal accords with the principles and policies contained within the development plan and is acceptable in terms of all other applicable material considerations.”
