Councillors confirmed yesterday that they will consult locals about the proposed formal closure of a remote school that was mothballed in 2012 due to dwindling pupil numbers.
Youngsters who would have attended Achfary Primary will switch to Kinlochbervie Primary, 15 miles away. In recent years, they attended either Kinlochbervie or Scourie Primary.
The views of parents, pupils and others locally will be sought between April 11 and May 24.
A public meeting is being arranged for Achfary on April 26.
There will be full details on the council website from April 11 at www.highland.gov.uk/schoolconsultations
