A Scottish explorer has reached Cape Wrath – having walked the length of the country from Gretna.
Jen Crook completed her “Winter Slog” in Durness yesterday, bringing to an end her epic 550 mile 12 week adventure.
The filmmaker and photographer from Edinburgh wild-camped and used bothies the whole way – and endured running out of food, winter storms and navigated across some of the wildest land in the country, including Rannoch Moor.
Most of the walk was undertaken with her rehomed black labrador Haggis, although he was sent home early after suffering an injury.
The 29-year-old also climbed mountains and spent a considerable among of time at high altitude, although she was forced to rearrange some of her plans after suffering a knee injury which threatened to derail the whole endeavour.
Yesterday she said: “I can’t believe I’ve done it. It all came about sort of by accident but it’s been brilliant for the most part.”
The adventure is the first of a number of planned treks leading up to become the first woman to walk unassisted and unsupported from the edge of Ancartica to the South Pole and back.
