A memorial table dedicated to a former Black Isle councillor has required repairs after being damaged by a barbecue.
The stone table in memory of Billy Barclay was erected at Chanonry Point after his death.
It was taken down at the start of works to upgrade the car parks and grounds around the busy dolphin-spotting visitor attraction.
However, it has now been taken to be repaired because of damage to its surface – believed to have been caused by someone lighting a barbecue.
A spokeswoman for Highland Council said: “Following discussions with the family, the picnic table has been securely stored during works on site and will be reinstalled in the location agreed, through consultation with the family, at the point with the other two similar tables.
“Before work on site started we noticed the table top had suffered damage.
“Although these tables are pretty robust, it appeared that a barbecue had been set up on the table causing damage.
“We have therefore ordered a new table top to replace the damaged one.
“The table should be in place this week, but by April 8 at latest when all works on site are scheduled to be complete.”
Mr Barclay died in October 2013 while working on his farm near Fortrose.
He had served as an independent councillor for the Black Isle since 2003 and was replaced on the council by his widow Jennifer.
