Hikers taking to mountains in the Cairngorms over the Easter holidays are being urged to look out for signs of a man missing for a month.
Police, mountain rescue and helicopter search teams are continuing attempts to find Jim Robertson, who has not been seen since heading out for a walking trip near Braemar, Aberdeenshire, on March 2.
The 61-year-old from the Glasgow area is thought to have stayed in the Bob Scott Bothy close to Derry Lodge on the Mar Lodge Estate about eight miles from Braemar.
Volunteers, rescue teams, the coastguard and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association have been involved in the search for Mr Robertson.
His family have raised more than £11,000 in support of Braemar Mountain Rescue Team (BMRT), who have been leading the search.
A message from the family posted on the Just Giving site said: “An immense amount of work has been done by BMRT to establish the likely circumstances in which our beloved dad, Jim Robertson, went missing.
“It is likely that he left Bob Scott’s Bothy early on the morning of Wednesday March 2, two days before his 61st birthday.
“It is likely that he headed to the second highest mountain in the UK, Ben Macdui.
“It is likely that he has had a tragic accident and has succumbed to the elements somewhere on this mountain.”
The family added: “There are no words to express our feelings of gratitude towards all of those who have been involved in the search thus far.”
Inspector Matt Smith said searches will continue this weekend.
“We are now into the Easter holiday period and the hills are anticipated to be busy,” he said.
“We are keen to hear from anybody who sees anything which might assist us in our search for Jim.
“Police are still searching and we are working with mountain rescue teams from the Aberdeen and Braemar areas.
“There has been some fresh snow in the area and, weather permitting, we will be looking to utilise helicopter support.”
