Police are appealing for information about man found lying by Kyle harbour
Police are appealing for information about man found lying by Kyle harbour

The death of a 61-year-old man found lying on the ground near Kyle harbour in the early hours of Saturday is still being investigated by police.

A police spokeswoman yesterday said: “Inquiries are continuing, but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”

She added that the man, who has not been named but is understood to be local, appeared to have been laying at the harbour-side for sometime as he was suffering the effects of exposure to the cold.

He was taken to Broadford Hospital on Skye, then on to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, where he died on Sunday afternoon.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the harbour area on Friday evening or Saturday morning to get in touch.

They are also keen to learn more about his movements in the hours leading up to him being found at the harbour.

It is understood that he had been at the Lochalsh Hotel and the Co-operative shop on Friday evening and police want to hear from anyone who knows what he did after that.

He is described as wearing blue jeans, a maroon top and a dark jacket with light grey sleeves.

Anyone with any information that may help police with their inquiries is asked to contact them by calling 101.
