NHS Highland has appointed a new area manager for Caithness and Sutherland.
Michelle Johnstone, who will take up the post in June, has a wide range of experience within healthcare.
She holds a bachelor of science degree from Abertay University in Dundee and a master in public administration from the University of Nottingham.
Mrs Johnstone will succeed north area manager Bob Silverwood who retired earlier this month.
She said: “I can’t wait to get started. It’s a great opportunity to have a positive impact on how services are delivered in the area.
“There are a number of challenges that lie ahead and I will work closely with my colleagues and the people of Sutherland and Caithness to identify ways in which we can continue to deliver high quality healthcare.”
Originally from Dundee, Mrs Johnstone qualified as a registered nurse in 1990 and worked in both the NHS and the independent sector in Tayside and Angus.
She spent her last seven years in the area working as a matron in an acute independent hospital.
She relocated to Lincolnshire with her husband in 2002 and worked in both acute and community settings within the NHS in various senior roles including head of safeguarding.
