A Belgian man is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash during a motorcycle tour of Scotland.
The 55-year-old was part of a group travelling around the north of Scotland on Saturday when he sustained serious injuries in a collision with a blue Mazda 6. The driver and the passenger were uninjured.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm a motorcyclist is being treated for serious injuries in hospital following a two-vehicle collision on the A87 near the Cluanie Inn.
“Officers attended the accident, which involved a black Triumph Tiger motorcycle and a blue Mazda 6 car, at about 4.50pm on Saturday.
“The motorcyclist, a 55-year-old male from Belgium, sustained serious injuries as a result and was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where he remains in a serious condition.
“The motorcycle was part of a group travelling around the north of Scotland. The driver and passenger of the car were uninjured.
“The road reopened around 10pm.
“Enquiries are being carried out by officers from the Road Policing Unit in Fort William, and they are appealing for any witnesses who have not already been spoken to by police to contact them on 101.”
In a separate incident, a motorcyclist from Belgium was killed on a single track road in Argyll on Bank Holiday Monday last week.
Two motorcycles were involved in the collision on the B8074 road between Dalmally and Bridge of Orchy.
The 66-year-old man who died was named by police as Germain Hubert Deweer.
Mr Deweer was travelling as part of a group of motorcyclists. At the time of the crash, he had become separated from the group.
They were further along the road in front of him when he was involved in the crash with the other motorcycle.
