Two French bikers were airlifted to hospital last night following a collision between a motorcycle and a car in Argyll.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident at the halfway house just north of Dunbeg on the A85 Oban-Connel road, shortly after 4pm.
A man was driving the motorbike with a woman riding as a passenger behind him.
An ambulance spokeswoman confirmed last night that both were airlifted to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley with “possible fractures” to their legs.
The occupants of the Volvo car involved were unhurt.
Following the collision, the road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators carried out their work, and local diversions were put in place.
The ages of both casualties was unknown last night due to communication difficulties between the French couple and emergency services personnel.
Yesterday at the scene, a blue Volvo car could be seen parked facing towards Oban and in front of the motorcycle, which was damaged and lying on its side.
Several pieces of plastic debris from the motorcycle, which appeared to be a modern machine, could be seen on the opposite side of the road.
The collision is the latest in a line of other motorbike crashes involving tourists on north roads.
On Saturday a Belgian man was left in a serious condition in hospital after a crash during a motorcycle tour of Scotland.
The 55-year-old was part of a group travelling around the north of the country when he suffered serious injuries in a collision with a blue Mazda 6 on the A87 road near the Cluanie Inn.
The driver and the passenger were uninjured.
In a separate incident, a motorcyclist from Belgium was killed on a single track road in Argyll on bank holiday Monday the week before.
Two motorcycles were involved in the collision on the B8074 between Dalmally and Bridge of Orchy.
The 66-year-old man who died was named by police as Germain Hubert Deweer.
Mr Deweer was also travelling as part of a group of motorcyclists. At the time of the crash, he had become separated from the group.
