The body of man has been found in the Glencoe area this afternoon during searches for missing hillwalker Edward Davies.
Police have not confirmed the identity of the body, but said Mr Davies’s family had been informed.
A police spokeswoman said: “Formal identification will now take place.
“The family of Edward Davies, who was reported missing in the area, have been informed.”
The 39-year-old, from Hampshire, had not been seen or made contact with his family or friends since he left a note in a hire car saying he planned to go up Sgùrr na h-Ulaidh at Glencoe on Sunday May 8 and to return the same day.
His note was not found until Wednesday of last week.
Since then, extensive searches of the area have been carried out, involving members of Glencoe, Oban, Lochaber and RAF Mountain Rescue Teams, SARDA dogs, police officers and the UK Coastguard helicopter Rescue 951.
