A main road in a Highland village was closed for about an hour today following a collision between two vehicles.
The accident happened on Main Street in Newtonmore, outside the local primary school, shortly before 11.55am.
A police spokeswoman said that an ambulance was called to the scene and that paramedics assisted one man who was inside one of the vehicles.
A fire service spokeswoman said that three appliances – one each from Newtonmore, Kingussie and Aviemore – were called to the incident and that the man had to be freed from the vehicle.
Local man Laurie Skuodas, a former member of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue team and qualified first aider, said he arrived on scene and saw firefighters, paramedics and a doctor giving CPR to a man on the pavement.
Local diversions were put in place as emergency services dealt with the casualty yesterday. The road reopened shortly before 1pm.
