A canoeist was found safe and well on the shores of Loch Ness after a major search operation to locate him.
The alarm was raised shortly before 6pm by members of the male paddlers party after he became separated from the group.
A search operation was launched involving the Loch Ness lifeboat and the Rescue 951 coastguard helicopter.
A man fitting the missing paddler’s description was spotted by the helicopter crew on the shore near the mouth of the River Moriston and the lifeboat was sent to investigate.
Crew volunteer Joy Cameron swam from the lifeboat in the shallow water and spoke with the man and confirmed he was the missing man.
Lifeboat spokesman Martin Douglas said: “He was fit and well and intended to camp out in that location for the night.
“This was an extremely positive outcome and we applaud the first informant for doing the right thing by alerting the coastguard as soon as they were concerned about the missing individual.”
