Injured judo star Stephanie Inglis has arrived back home in Scotland to continue her recovery from a serious head injury caused by a motorbike accident in Vietnam.
She landed at Edinburgh Airport at about 12.30pm and was taken by road ambulance to the city’s Western General Hospital, where she will receive care in a specialist unit.
Stephanie, who is from Daviot, near Inverness, but now lives in Dunfermline, was previously receiving treatment in Bangkok.
Her journey home began last night on a medical flight which included scheduled stops in India, Georgia and Austria.
Today a post on a social media page dedicated to providing updates on Stephanie’s progress, read: “Stephanie has this afternoon landed at 12.30 in Edinburgh, all has went to plan and she is currently being transferred to Edinburgh Western General to a specialist unit.
“Thanks to everyone”.
Doctors in Vietnam initially gave Stephanie a 1% chance of survival following the accident in Ha Long on 10 May.
But last Tuesday she awoke from a coma and has been showing signs of improvement.
