New funding has been made available to tackle poverty and create employment in Caithness.
A total of £38,000 from the council’s Deprived Area Fund until March 2017.
Groups and specific projects which work to create employment opportunities are invited to apply for a share in the funding.
The final decision on beneficiaries by the council director of development and infrastructure Stuart and Councillor Roger Saxon, chairman of the Caithness Committee.
Mr Saxon said: “Since 2011/12 nearly £2.5million has been disbursed through the Deprived Area Fund to areas across the Highlands to specifically assist community led projects which focus their activities on helping people learn new skills and get into the jobs market.
“Here in Caithness over the years the fund has been used to support a lot of good work which has had a positive impact on people’s lives but there is more work to be done. I therefore encourage organisations to apply and get their applications submitted before the deadline.”
The closing date is Friday 8 July 2016.
