NHS Highland are to launch a public consultation into the redesign of services along the north coast of Sutherland.
The board will consult on plans to create a single new health and social care facility which will be located in the Kyle of Tongue area
The proposal, if implemented, would mean NHS Highland will no longer provide residential care home services at the Melvich Community Care Unit and at the Caladh Sona in Talmine.
The consultation will get underway in mid-July and will last for a period of three months.
Gill McVicar, NHS Highland’s director of operations for north and west: “I am delighted that we are now in a position to formally consult and get wider public views on the proposals.
“We will be contacting community councils and local groups to provide them with information on the consultation process and seek their input.
“We will use a range of approaches including sending information to every home in the area.”
Once the consultation is over, the board of NHS Highland will then consider all the feedback provided as well as an independent report by the Scottish Health Council,
It is expected that a final decision will be made by November 29 this year.
