Two climbers who became cragfast in heavy cloud as they tried to reach the summit of Ben Nevis were rescued.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team were called out at around 7.30pm on Tuesday.
Team members climbed down to their location near the top of the Great Tower and assisted them to climb out to the summit.
John Stevenson, leader of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, said: “A man and a woman got stuck on the eastern traverse. They decided they couldn’t go further when they got to about 3,800ft and called us.
“The chopper came in but it was very heavy cloud and they could only lift our guys so far up. They walked the rest of the way up and dropped down. We did a lower, fixed ropes and took them to the summit and walked them off.”
They were picked up by the rescue helicopter R951 at the Half Way Lochan and taken off the Ben.
Earlier the team had been helping three people who got stuck on steep ground high up on Melantee, the mountain in front of Ben Nevis. They had been called out at 5pm.
Mr Stevenson said: “It is not an easy climb up there, it is grassy with rocks. They bit off more than they could chew and they got stuck. We went up, met them and walked them back down.”
