A Highland councillor has criticised the poor communication about a community safety project – and blamed himself.
Caol and Mallaig representative Ben Thompson was disappointed in his own failure to ensure everyone knew about plans to revamp the bus gate at Caol shops.
He apologised in a social media post, saying: “A lot of folk have been very rightly hacked off by poor communication about the council’s plans.
“I have to hold my hand up and say I’m responsible for that and could have done more to make sure everyone was aware.
“The bus gate plans have been to school stakeholder meetings, the community council, to Caol Regeneration, to some of the shops (but not all) – it was not enough.
“That some only found out the day work started was simply unacceptable on the council’s part. Lesson learned, sorry.”
The scheme will allow the school bus to circuit and drop pupils off at the local primary school’s front door.
