Motorists are being warned to expect up to 18 months of delays on the A82 Inverness to Fort William road due to the next phase of major tree felling operations.
The work on steep ground above the carriageway at Primrose Bay, to the north of Alt Sigh on Loch Ness-side, is due to start in September.
Forest Enterprise Scotland (FES) is staging three drop-in events to publicise the project, which follows the successful completion of tree felling and slope stability operations above the A82 in Lochaber at Glen Righ, near Corran Ferry, and alongside Loch Lochy.
The sessions are being held at Blairbeg Hall, Drumnadrochit, on Tuesday July 26, Glenmoriston Hall, Invermoriston, on Thursday, July 28, and Gorthleck Hall, Gorthleck, on Wednesday, August 3.
All will run from 11am to 7pm.
The Primrose Bay tree felling is expected to take up to 18 months to complete.
This will be followed by slope stability operations, with all work at the site expected to be completed by June 2018.
Alex Macleod, who is managing the A82 project operations for FES, said: “The drop-in events will allow local people and businesses to discuss with our harvesting team what we’ll be doing after the summer and how this might affect local traffic.
“Road users are by now probably very familiar with how we work and the need for traffic management to ensure public safety, but we’re more than happy to answer any questions about this and any other aspect of the work.”
Transport Scotland’s north network manager Fiona Brown said: “We and our operating company, Bear Scotland, continue to work with Forest Enterprise Scotland on the planning and programming of their works on the A82 to help minimise disruption to road users, communities and businesses.”
